GALLERY: Chet Faker at Emo’s Austin

AUSTIN, TX | EMO’S AUSTIN | MAY 15, 2026 | BY STACEY MILLER

Ideas By AB opened the night at Emo’s Austin, his atmospheric DJ set created the perfect tone before Chet Faker took the stage.

Touring in support of his latest album “A Love for Strangers” released earlier this year, Chet Faker delivered a hypnotic, emotionally charged set at Emo’s Austin. His vocals were rich and effortless, floating perfectly over deep bass lines and textured synths. The songs from his performance sounded just as good as the studio recordings, only better with an energy that could only be felt through live music.

One of the production choices that really stood out this evening was the stage layout itself. Rather than placing the drums in the usual center-back position, the kit was moved off to the side, visually opening up the stage for a more dynamic set up. From a photographer's perspective, it made capturing the drummer significantly easier than at most shows. Small detail, huge difference. At center-stage, two pianos were positioned facing opposite directions, allowing Chet Faker to perform toward both sides of the room, creating a more immersive connection with the crowd.

With brilliant lighting, polished musicianship, and an energy that pulled the crowd in from start to finish, this was easily a 10/10 performance, and absolutely a show worth seeing again.

KEEP UP WITH CHET FAKER
