HISTORY | TORONTO, ON | MARCH 4, 2024 | BY FABIANA MOREIRA

From the very first chord, the crowd erupted as Luke Pritchard from The Kooks walked out on stage to begin their set, with the beginning track, “Seaside” from their debut record which started it all, “Inside In/Inside Out”. This was the indie-rockers’ first show in Toronto in nearly 6 years, and you could feel the excitement with smiles all around from everyone there to bear witness in anticipation of this long-overdue return. The band went straight to it, and they had some surprises as the setlist was not your standard full-album playthrough, taking some turns to play other hits such as “Bad Habit”, and “Do You Wanna”, before revisiting the debut. Finishing the evening with arguably their most-popular song, “Naive”, the microphone was turned to the crowd to allow them all to sing in the first verses, to which they happily obliged.

The band is about to start their second leg of the celebration tour, with limited dates in New York and the Midwest, before wrapping up in California. Be sure to catch them while you can!
