Billy Strings took over ACL Live at the Moody Theater on Sunday, December 14, fresh off playing the massive Moody Center arena the night before. I’m not super familiar with his catalog, but it’s immediately clear why he inspires devotion akin to Phish/The Dead: he’s a true string savant, effortless and razor-sharp on guitar. I’ve never had so many friends ask if I had an extra ticket, and I’ve never seen so many people circling the block outside the venue hoping to find one. Inside, the night of acoustic tunes still managed to be focused and electric.
