AUSTIN, TX | ANTONE’S | MAY 30, 2025 | BY ELINA CARRASCO AND ERIC MARTINEZ

With the debut of her sophomore album, Julia Wolf has embarked on the PRESSURE World Tour, sharing the same name as her newly anticipated release. Wolf brings along complementing acts, ellis and Worry Club, as openers for her return to Austin, TX, at Antone’s Nightclub.

As night fell and the crowd grew, Linnea Siggelkow, also known as ellis, took on a fogged and pink-hued stage with her melancholic and wistful voice, accompanied by a heavy bass guitar. ellis’ intricate lyricism led to a subtle self-introduction for the musician, and her journey from Hamilton, ON, as she extended her gratitude to Wolf for taking her along the North American leg of the PRESSURE tour. Amongst an abundance of new and admiring listeners, ellis wonderfully interacted with the crowd, even coming down from the stage like a rift in the sea, having left surrounding bodies in awe. Each song performed on her ribbon-lace-tied mic stand, which was delightfully fitting, drew the crowd in and encapsulated the venue in a dreamy yet intimate setting before she said her goodbyes.

Chicago-based indie-punk band Worry Club followed shortly after with their lead singer, Chase Walsh, ripping right into his guitar. After having his hat fly across the stage, Walsh readjusted himself as he greeted the crowd with an enthusiastic, “What’s up, Austin!”. Soon enough, both the energy on stage and on the floor was as high as the heat inside the venue, as sweaty bodies were jumping and dancing to the angsty, bedroom rock. Walsh actively carried the passion from the crowd through the entirety of his performance with the band. Worry Club also took this time to debut an unreleased song from their teased upcoming album, which is expected to be released this fall. With the crowd in their hands, Worry Club sparked murmurs among the crowd as they departed the stage, clearly leaving a lasting impression on both newcomers and longtime fans that affirmed their strength as performers.

Introduced through an iconic ‘cheer intro remix-esque announcement, Julia Wolf ran on stage to open with “Loser,” her third single off of PRESSURE.. Already in an uproar of excitement, the audience continued shouting their love for Wolf as she led into her next song, “FYP.” After an intense frat-flicking session that only Wolf herself could make look cool, she took the time to acknowledge the overwhelmingly large crowd, which was only one-fourth its size during her last visit.  Once Wolf wrapped up this thoughtful exchange, she called back to her day-one fans as she introduced her next song, “Hydra,” which was released back in 2021. As the show progressed, one major detail that was hard to miss was how identical Wolf sounded to her recordings. She performed passionately through each song, invoking contrasting emotions of yearning and rage as her set continued. The crowd quickly picked up on the energy shed from the stage as Wolf performed “Pearl,” an appropriately piercing track that had everyone shouting the renowned phrase and lyric, “I’m a fucking STAR!”, a subtle homage to the classic A24 film and character, Pearl. Wolf continued displaying her versatility through her setlist by performing songs such as “Life Is A Storm,” “Sunshine State,” and “You’ve Lost A Lot of Blood,” which created a slow, extremely intimate, and heart-clenching moment as she hinted at the show’s conclusion. With the perfect mood curated, Wolf arrived at her final song, “In My Room,” which gained recent traction on TikTok through numerous Twilight edits. The closing performance was, no doubt, an ultimate crowd-favorite as fans roared along to its lyrics and sported her merch. Wolf ended the night sharing her goodbyes and gratitude once more to a passionately loud crowd who applauded her in awe before she quickly exited the scorching venue.

Julia Wolf, alongside ellis and Worry Club, delivered cinematic performances that made for an unforgettable show.  The North American leg of the PRESSURE tour extends to the end of June, so make sure you don’t miss out!
