GALLERY: Sold Out Osees at Hotel Vegas Night 1

AUSTIN, TX | HOTEL VEGAS | OCTOBER 17, 2025 | BY JENNIFER GREENE
The Osees returned to Austin on 10/17 and 10/18 for two sold-out shows at Hotel Vegas. The Japanese psych-rock band DMBQ (iDynamite Masters Blues Quartet) warmed up the densely packed audience with an energetic and theatrical opening act, with the frontman Shinji Masuko punching himself repeatedly, drawing blood and drool. When the Austin crowd welcomed the Osees, it was clear that the fans had been counting down the hours to their return since the October Levitation show in 2024. As a first-time Osees show-goer, I was promised one of the best shows, and it did not disappoint. With guitarist John Dwyer and dual drummers Dan Rincon and Paul Quatrone at the very front edge of the stage, it felt like the crowd was just an extension of the band. It felt like a frenzied family reunion where everyone had a silent agreement — they were going to leave every last bit of energy at Hotel Vegas, but also take care of everyone in the pit, the crowd surfers, and those pressed against the stage. And I think it is fair to say that every member of the sold-out crowd is counting down the days to their return.
