Utahn-formed indie rock band, The Used, stopped by Emo’s on Oct. 24 for their “25th Anniversary” tour in Austin. Accompanying them was the Houston-based metalcore group Myka Relocate.

The Used went all-out with the stage production, from the flaring lights (from their huge, 10-piece light setup) to the gigantic and iconic heart-noose logo; the set really provided a performance worthy of an anniversary tour. For their second night of a three-night stint in Austin, they played songs from their second studio album, “In Love and Death”, which had the audience headbanging and pumping their fists in the air throughout the night. The crowd absolutely erupted in cheers when lead singer Bert McCracken pulled out a Palestinian keffiyeh during their song “The Bird and the Worm”, which he dedicated to Palestine, in an act of solidarity.

Their show in Austin rocked not just the venue, but also the hearts of all their fans who came together to spend a special night with a band they love dearly, right here in the Heart of Texas.

The Used performed the entirety of their debut album Lies for the Liars during night three of their 25th anniversary tour at Emo’s. The iconic emo band drew a crowd that blended longtime fans with fresh faces, and even parents sharing the moment with their kids. Before launching into the B-side “Pain,” frontman Bert McCracken declared, “This is church for me. We are at church right now, and music is my religion.” By the end of the night, The Used proved that their music still feels like a sanctuary for every generation in the room.
