AUSTIN, TX | MOHAWK’S | JULY 19, 2025 | BY OLA “TOBI” BABATUNDE

San Diego rock band Wavves visited the music capital of the world, Austin, TX, as part of the Spun North America Summer 2025 tour, and rocked at the local, infamous Mohawk venue in downtown. Fellow California-natives Choke Cherry from San Francisco and Beach Goons from San Diego accompanied the band on the road. The night kicked off with Choke Cherry’s performance, with Izzie Clark & E. Scarlett Levinson on guitar and vocals, in addition to Jack Lillian, who added to the dynamics of the duo’s presence on stage. They performed their latest single, “Goldmine”, which stuck out with an enchanting rhythm that had the crowd spellbound. They were followed by Beach Goons, whose sound transported the crowd to San Diego with songs like “A.M”, a track that had the audience literally crowdsurfing to the mood of the beat. Surf-rock band Wavves wrapped up the evening by alternating between rocking the venue and dropping commentary about their time in the city and the story behind songs like “Spun,” which had the crowd spinning in one of many mosh pits.

The show was a perfect blend of various alternative rock genres that had both the new and the old fans wishing for more. After such an electric and enjoyable show, it was clear that Wavves really made a splash in Austin, TX.

KEEP UP WITH WAVVES
